Mpambani has since been assassinated.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The joint venture identified 36,000 asbestos roofs in the province that needed to be replaced. Prolonged exposure to these fibres can cause lung tissue scarring and shortness of breath. Sometimes you’d swear that the roof has water in it, or at least it is damp,” he said. </span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ramokhufe, who hails from Pretoria, moved to the province for work. He previously rented another house in the area, also with an asbestos roof, and his experience was similar. </span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">“These houses are old.
