"contents": "<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let’s turn the use of your air fryer in another direction entirely. Cheese in an air fryer? Figs? Honey? Yes, you can, and there’s also some butter in the mix.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I went in cold with this recipe, using my common sense and knowledge of cooking. For more gen on how to get to know your air fryer better, read <a href=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2023-03-17-how-to-demystify-your-air-fryer/\">my column about it here</a> and also see my previous </span><a href=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2023-01-20-how-i-learnt-to-love-my-air-fryer/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">column here.</span></a>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This recipe uses a drizzle of butter melted with honey, Camembert cheese and of course figs to create a quick and very delicious starter for six, but it could be served as a post-dinner course as well. Figs are nearing the end of their season now, so look out for them and have a go at this recipe.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You need to use a foil tray or other suitable dish to hold the figs and their sauce during the short cook.</span>\r\n\r\n<i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Serves 6 as a starter)</span></i>\r\n\r\n<b>Ingredients</b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12 red figs</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 round of ripe Camembert</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 Tbsp butter</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 Tbsp honey</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Black pepper</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A foil tin that will hold all the figs side-by-side, or similar</span>\r\n\r\n<b>Method</b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snip off the stems and criss-cross the tops with a small knife, being careful not to cut too deep.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a small pot, melt the butter and stir the honey into it.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut the Camembert into tiny wedges. Slice off the crust on the outer edge. Push bits of Camembert into the slits of each fig. Air fryer recipes were suddenly everywhere.\r\n\r\nIt seems clear, the air fryer is here to stay. Their advantages in speed, efficiency and in saving money outweigh any disadvantages there may be, not that there is a long list of those. And innovative, creative air fryer recipes have made life even easier.\r\n\r\nWiki describes an airfryer like this: “An air fryer is a small countertop convection oven designed to simulate deep frying without submerging the food in oil. A fan circulates hot air at a high speed, producing a crisp layer via browning reactions such as the Maillard reaction. Some product reviewers find that regular convection ovens or convection toaster ovens produce better results, or say that air frying is essentially the same as convection baking.”",
