It goes on display at Sotheby’s London until September 25 before presented for the very first time at a Sotheby’s flagship Royal and Noble Jewels live auction on 11 November 2024, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva with an estimate 1,600,000 – 2,400,000 CHF / $1,800,000 – 2,800,000. Most likely created in the decade before the French Revolution, its provenance has legendary status. It was part of the Marquess of Anglesey family jewellery collection for about 100 years before it was sold to an important private Asian collector in the 1960’s and hasn’t been seen publicly for 50 years.
