However, he had a harsh warning for foreign nationals.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">“The Central Karoo will be an illegal immigrant-free zone.” </span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McKenzie’s district includes the Laingsburg, Beaufort West and Prince Albert municipalities. Last week, he was confirmed as a councillor for the Laingsburg municipality and then seconded to the district municipality. The district’s mayor was Johanna Botha (ANC), Thersia Prince (PA) was deputy speaker and Lizel Paulse (ANC) was council speaker. Opposition councillors sat quietly during the session.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">McKenzie thanked God, the party, his family and opposition councillors. He said he would be a mayor for the entire district and not just for party supporters.
