The murder of one of Yanga Nyalara’s associates, Sikhumbule Nonki, allegedly prompted Nyalara to unleash a reign of terror.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nkonki was allegedly collecting money extorted from shopkeepers at Tea and Tea Cash Store at X196, on the corner of Banzi Street and Baca Avenue in Site B on the day in question. </span>\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/screenshot-2022-07-04-at-18-27-53/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1315130\" src=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-04-at-18.27.53-e1656958310580.png\" alt=\"gangland murders nyalara\" width=\"720\" height=\"326\" /></a> Yanga Nyalara is accused of murdering 18 people in Khayelitsha during May 2021. Nkonki was shot execution-style and Nyalara swore revenge. Lubobo.
