The station, launched on Wednesday, is a pilot project by education nonprofit, Living Through Learning.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This comes in the wake of an </span><a href=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2023-05-16-international-study-shows-81-of-grade-4s-in-south-africa-cannot-read-for-meaning/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">international study</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> showing that </span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8</span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1% of Grade 4 learners in South Africa are unable to read for meaning in any language. </span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Five sets of iPads and headphones have been set up in the school’s “Reading Adventure Room” – a space funded and resourced by Living Through Learning.</span>\r\n\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1692699\" src=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/NATALIE-ROOS.jpg\" alt=\"digital learning natalie roos\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" /> <em>MD of nonprofit Living Through Learning Natalie Roos says that the digital station set up at Levana Primary School is intended to give learners the opportunity to engage with and learn from digital content.
