His presidency was marked by controversy, including allegations of corruption and mismanagement. He was also criticized for his close ties to the Gupta family, a wealthy Indian business family accused of using their influence to enrich themselves at the expense of the South African government.</p>\r\n<p data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:177\">In 2018, Zuma resigned as president after facing mounting pressure from the ANC and the public. He was subsequently convicted of corruption and sentenced to 15 months in prison.</p>\r\n<p data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:340\">Jacob Zuma is a controversial figure, but he is also a significant figure in South African history. He was the first president of South Africa to be born after apartheid, and he played a key role in the transition to democracy. However, his presidency was also marred by scandal and corruption, and he is ultimately remembered as a flawed leader.</p>\r\n<p data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:340\">The African National Congress (ANC) is the oldest political party in South Africa and has been the ruling party since the first democratic elections in 1994.</p>",
