"contents": "<span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The NPA will go ahead with the prosecution of Anele Ntlemeza after she made a threatening phone call to colleague <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Captain Boitumelo Ramahlaha, soon after her father had lost an application in the High Court in Pretoria in 2016 in which he had hoped to indict then Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula, from removing him as head of the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation.</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Ntlemeza Jr also threatened forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan after Ramahlaha, who was suspended after he lodged the charges, had asked for his help in dealing with the threats. </span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">After O’Sullivan had called Ntlemeza about the matter she messaged him with, “Hahaha. Like I give a fuck. Oops maybe you need one. U look like u could use some. Let’s see who goes to jail first, u or me.”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">She added: </span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">“<span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">U think u the only one who cam dish out threats u foolish kwerekwere. Now tell your client that he must harass my family again, he wil never see light of day.” (sic)</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Ntlemeza Jr also described O’Sullivan as “an an old hag” who would be deported from South Africa and that she hoped he would be “executed” when he arrived back in his “home country”.</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Acting Deputy Director of the NPA and Head of the National Prosecution Service, Advocate Sibongile </span></span></span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Mzinyathi, has decided that Ntlemeza would be prosecuted in the Magistrate’s Court on charges of crimen injuria and intimidation.</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Ramahlaha had opened cases against Mthandazo Ntlemeza on charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice after he [Ramahlaha] claimed that a docket relating to alleged corruption by another officer, Thomas Rallele, “went missing”. </span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Rallele, who was dating Ntlemeza’s other daughter, Amanda, at the time, was later discharged from SAPS after being caught with a cellphone taken during an armed robbery and for defrauding the police by falsifying vehicle logs. Ramahlaha was suspended a few months after the dockets were opened.</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">In 2016 Anele Ntlemeza called Ramahlaha and threatened him after alleging that he had been harassing her sister. The call, which was recorded, began with Anele telling Ramahlaha she knew where he lived.</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The conversation went down like this:</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Anele: “Stop messing around with my family or I will come after you with everything I’ve got. I will go as far as killing you.”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Ramahlaha: “Are you willing to kill me for Ntlemeza?”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Anele: “You think you are clever? You psychotic motherfucker. You need a psychiatric evaluation. If I ever hear you contact or insult my sister, you are dead. I will kill you. Call her now and it will be your last day.”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">She challenges Ramahlaha to meet her in Pretoria and asks him why he was not calling her father, to which Ramahlaha responded that he was unable to call the Hawks head as then Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula, had confiscated his phone.</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Anele: “Who is the minister to us? You are his fool. You are his informant… Do you think we give a fuck about him?”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Soon after reports of Anele Ntlemeza’s threats, DPCI spokesman, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, </span></span></span><a href=\"https://www.saps.gov.za/newsroom/msspeechdetail.php?nid=8029\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">came out to bat</span></span></a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> for his boss, describing a news item on the matter in </span></span></span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>The Star</i></span></span></span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> as </span></span></span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>“</b></span></span></span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">a self-negating joke. It reads like an imitation. It also gives voice to dull but inflammatory accusations that are made about their so-called trusted informer.”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Mulaudzi added that the newspaper was protecting a “so-called trusted informer” and that “the beauty of this tactic is that the accusations can’t be challenged. The official accusers are being hidden by the journalists so nobody can confront them or hold them accountable when their malicious accusations turn out to be false.”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Mulaudzi also publicly attacked Ramahlaha, saying “his squeaky-clean image is continuously built on mischievous lies and he and his masters’ ugly smear campaigns will be revealed soon. Why is the country not been (sic) told the truth about his illegal escapades with a bogus police who operated from Seshego and Polokwane police stations as well his alleged involvement in a murder of a Nigerian man in Polokwane just to name a few?”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Yes indeed.</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Hawks spokesman continued that </span></span></span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>The Star </i></span></span></span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">had been “merely recycling the same evidence-free smears that have been used by other media houses, </span></span></span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Mail and Guardian</i></span></span></span></em> <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">to be precise. But what is surprising, and outrageous, is journalists continue to be so plagued by some combination of absurdity and gullibility, so that no matter how many times this trick is revealed, they keep falling for it.”</span></span></span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He concluded by aligning himself “with Adolf Hitler when he said if you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.
