"contents": "<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This recipe is an adaptation of frikkadels in a sweet-and-sour ginger sauce that was originally made with brown breadcrumbs, ground ginger, golden syrup, plums, apple, dried apricots, prunes, sultanas and tomato. This recipe, from an old church cookbook owned by Hannerie Visser’s mother, takes an inventive shortcut: the ginger biscuits are a substitute for everything from the breadcrumbs to the spices and golden syrup.</span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Makes 8 large or 12 medium frikkadels)</span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n<b>Frikkadels</b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">500 g beef mince</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">125 ml sour cream or Bulgarian yoghurt</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 packet (50 g) brown onion soup powder</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">60 ml fresh breadcrumbs</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 eggs, beaten</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 ml salt</span>\r\n\r\n<b>Method</b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preheat the oven to 180 °C.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix all the ingredients together well. Form the frikkadels and place in a greased oven dish.</span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n<b>Sauce</b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 g ginger biscuits (about 6 biscuits), broken into pieces</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 50 ml tomato sauce</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">30 ml vinegar</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">30 ml soft brown sugar</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 g sultanas or currants (optional)</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">15 ml oil</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">250 ml meat stock</span>\r\n\r\n<b>Method</b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix all the ingredients together and spoon over the frikkadels.
