Sentencing is on Friday.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The white supremacist was on Monday convicted on five counts: contravention of the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act 33 of 2004 (Pocdatara), incitement to carry out terrorist attacks in South Africa, soliciting support/recruitment of persons to carry out terrorist attacks in South Africa, the unlawful possession of a firearm and the unlawful possession of ammunition.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initially, Knoesen </span><a href=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2022-05-07-right-wing-terrorist-pastors-dark-plans-for-a-bloody-coup-unravel-in-high-court/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pleaded not guilty</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the charges. He sought to justify his beliefs on religious grounds, claiming God had ordained that he should reclaim South Africa for white people. </span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knoesen created a Facebook and other social media accounts to solicit support and supporters. The brothers were sentenced on 8 December 2020 and are serving eight years for their part in the plot to overthrow the government.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The charges against Heymans were withdrawn in August 2020 and she turned State witness. </span><a href=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2022-05-12-witness-gives-damning-testimony-about-general-harry-knoesens-right-wing-insurrection-plot/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her affidavit,</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> read into the record, gave a blow-by-blow account of how members were recruited, cells were formed countrywide, how the insurrection was planned and when it was meant to take place.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heymans, in her affidavit, said: “General Harry was serious about his attack plan and taking over the country by force. I was totally aware of the plan and would have taken part in it if it was realised.”</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lieutenant-General Godfrey Lebeya, the head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation said: “We are satisfied with the judgment… excellent intelligence gathering and dedicated investigation prevented a bloodbath in the country.
