Hmmm? As enjoyable as your rant is, I'm not sure you're taking a balanced view. I do like the way you dismiss 15k dead. I also like how you slip in the 'co-morbidities' & 'youth' factoids. Yes, a kernel of truth...up to a point. The former are generally the first to expire, but make no mistake, there really is no rule or barrier to anyone becoming very ill or expiring from this disease. And, of course, there are the multitude of nasty, lingering side effects. You might want to listen to President Trump's comments to Bob Woodward from early January. And, please don't tell me, that with everything else that is problematic in South Africa, the one thing they are getting right is the Covid-19 mortality number. I promise you it is much...MUCH!...higher. Has the government made this more painful than necessary? Indubitably. Is this a disaster on an unimaginable scale? Affirmative. But here's a little secret: that's a ditto for the rest of the world. The only thing saving the US from total disaster - & it is a human disaster of epic proportions! - is the ability to print money as home to the international reserve currency. And the disease does not give up.
