"contents": "<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But then make every day a Mandela day.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Monday 13 July, the</span><a href=\"https://www.uct.ac.za/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> University of Cape Town</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> continues with their series of unscripted 'conversations' around how to re-imagine the new global university in the current and post-Covid world.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week,</span><a href=\"http://www.uct.ac.za/unleashing-the-new-global-university\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> join</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Rifat Atun (professor in global health systems, </span><a href=\"https://www.harvard.edu/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harvard University</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), Kelly Chibale, (professor in organic chemistry, director of</span><a href=\"http://www.h3d.uct.ac.za/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> H3D</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, UCT), Prof Catherine Odora Hoppers, (</span><a href=\"https://www.unisa.ac.za/sites/corporate/default\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unisa</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and</span><a href=\"https://gu.ac.ug/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Gulu University</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second event, which will be moderated Salome Maswime, (obstetrician and gynaecologist, professor in global surgery, UCT) will focus on whether or not the disruption to the current higher education model can bring about a shift in the centre of gravity in international collaborations and help us to reimagine a different approach that empowers African institutions to take the lead in collaborative projects and partnerships both within and outside the continent.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Covid-19 pandemic has changed life as we know it. When it comes to the financial effects, it has had a significant impact on an individual, business, and macroeconomic level. As the situation continues to evolve, it is becoming increasingly evident that many of the changes are here for good. Civil society organisations like the</span><a href=\"https://iej.org.za/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Institute for Economic Justice</span></a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the</span><a href=\"https://budgetjusticesa.org/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Budget Justice Coalition</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been raising questions about what a fairer economy, one that narrows rather than increases inequality, should look like. But what does big business and the financial sector think? </span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Tuesday 14 July, the</span><a href=\"https://www.nedbank.co.za/content/nedbank/desktop/gt/en/aboutus.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Nedbank Group</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is hosting a virtual discussion centred around the post-Covid economy. The survey is the largest non-medical Covid-19 research project currently underway in South Africa.
