Ndlovu dedicated his </span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">28th piece, titled </span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Infinite</span></i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to former president Nelson Mandela in recognition of his work in empowering children.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The beneficiaries of the funds raised were the </span><a href=\"https://kmf.org.za/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kay Mason Foundation</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an NPO that works in education and offers underprivileged learners scholarships to pursue their studies, and </span><a href=\"https://operationsmile.org.za/?gclid=CjwKCAjw-7OlBhB8EiwAnoOEk4sGjk9FLuupz_H6LbGgw0VjZi8JsLYpk0OL_T5W7VZ_ewSxaCDT3BoCpCQQAvD_BwE\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Operation Smile</span></a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which provides free surgeries for children and young adults with cleft palates.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">“I chose to dedicate part of my life’s work to impacting the lives of children because I wholeheartedly believe that every child deserves a fair chance at a happy, healthy and successful life, without being held back by circumstances beyond their control.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">“I feel a personal connection to this cause because I understand that these same children, under different circumstances, could grow up to become noble leaders, intelligent scientists and contributing citizens,” Ndlovu said in a statement prior to the event.</span>\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/pic-1-11/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1773800\" src=\"https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Pic-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"406\" /></a> <em>Mbali Khubeka, a beneficiary of the Kay Mason Foundation, speaking at A Night of Greatjoy hosted at Rosemary Hill farm in Pretoria. She said the scholarship allowed her to “finally become a child” and be able to focus on her studies. (Photo: Zukiswa Pikoli)</em></p>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ingrid Mfulane from Operation Smile told those in attendance Mandela Day showed that “giving is not just about a donation – it is about making a difference”.</span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She said children with cleft palates were often hidden away in communities and even abandoned because of the stigma attached to their condition.
