SA’s week of turbulence: Madonsela bows out as Zuma rampage intensifies 



By his own admission, President Jacob Zuma is an “implicated person” in the Public Protector’s investigation into state capture by the Guptas. He therefore wants to prevent Thuli Madonsela from releasing her preliminary report on her last day in office. This move exposes that Zuma and his cronies have much to hide. In a week of escalating violence over the university fees crisis and the serving of summons on Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and EFF leader Julius Malema, it is apparent Zuma and his clique are losing control and have thrown caution to the wind. Public Protector Thuli Madonsela will release her remaining batch of reports on Friday. Although her announcement didn't explicitly mention the state capture report, everyone is anticipating this bombshell. With Jacob Zuma and his minions desperate to contain the investigation, this may well be Madonsela's final mic drop, middle finger departure from her post. Read More
















Trump lambastes media


The Orange Menace has lashed out at the media for reporting ongoing claims of sexual abuse, calling the stories "outright lies". At least six women have come forward and accused Trump of some form of abuse or other. Trump, in turn, has called the women "horrible liars". Read More
















FARC ceasefire extended


Despite a referendum negating the peace deal between FARC rebels and the Colombian government, the Colombian president and recent winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Juan Manuel Santos, has announced a ceasefire extension. Peace between FARC and the government should now last until at least the 31st December. Read More
















Ex-MCR star injured in bus accident


Former My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero was seriously injured yesterday when a bus collided with the van he and his band had been unloading in Sydney. Iero suffered a serious leg injury, and was hospitalised along with another band mate. Read More
