After a marathon session at Johannesburg's council meeting, and the passing away of a councillor, the ANC has lost control of the city. Israel retaliates against Palestine


Israeli forces have launched strikes against Palestinian positions in response to a rocket attack in Sderot. In mounting the attacks Israel has drawn the verbalised ire of Turkey. Regardless, Israeli officials remained adamant that they would retaliate in the event of future attacks. Read More
















Trump demands closure of "corrupt" foundation 


Not content with being moderate for a week, Donald Trump has lashed the Clinton Foundation, demanding it be closed. Trump was alluding to "corrupt" donations made by Saudi Arabia. Although he may have a point, closing the Clinton Foundation, a key HIV/AIDS treatment organisation, to make said point would endanger millions of lives. At least, this is what the Clinton campaign machine argues. Read More
















Lochte loses sponsors


Another day, another batch of sponsors have dropped US Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte. In the wake of Lochte's fabricated story about being mugged at gunpoint in Brazil, Speedo and Ralph Lauren, amongst others, were major sponsors to announce their cancelling of his sponsorship. For Lochte, being lofty and wafty about the truth has not paid off at all. Read More
