US convicts Chinese billionaire



An American jury has found Ng Lap Seng guilty on multiple counts of fraud and money-laundering. Ng, a major property tycoon, was revealed to have bribed multiple senior officials in the United Nations' General Assembly, including its president. Ng could now face a sentence that would span the rest of his life.





 





Iran sends satellite rocket aloft



Just days after the United States warned Iran of sterner action and renewed sanctions if it should pursue a ballistic missile programme, Iran did just that. The satellite-rocket launched a device to an altitude of 500km. The launch elicited many frowns from Washington, and no doubt Donald Trump is thumbing his way to a Twitter-based rebuke as we speak.





 









Senate passes Russian sanctions bill



The White House's No 1 Naatjie now needs to decide whether to veto a set of sanctions approved almost unanimously by the Senate. The sanctions will apply to Russia, Iran and North Korea but are primarily focused on punishing the Kremlin for its meddling in the elections, as well as for its invasion and occupation of the Crimea.





 





iPod models face the axe



The iPod Shuffle and Nano models have been chopped from Apple's roster. Unveiled 12 years ago by Steve Jobs, the models as of now will no longer be sold. If you want your iPod, your only options now are to either get a Touch or visit your local pawn shop.
