Great Barrier Reef coral 'dead or dying'


Scientists have revealed that at least 35 percent of the Great Barrier Reef coral is dead, or about to be. Climate change is the major contributor to an ongoing bleaching event, which is destroying coral at an unprecedented rate. Read more
















Mali peacekeepers killed in ambush


At least five peacekeepers in Mali have been killed in an ambush set up by militants. Preliminary reports have indicated that Togolese peacekeepers hit a mine and were promptly attacked. The ambush brings to 64 the number of deaths experienced by the MINUSMA peacekeeping force. Read more
















Venezuelan death squads murder 11


A group in Venezuela has killed 11 people, including three minors. The victims were all at home on Saturday in the state of Trujillo, when the armed group rounded them up into courtyards and executed them.  Read more
















Djokovic on the cusp of $100 million 


World number one Novak Djokovic is simultaneously chasing a Roland Garros career Grand Slam and $100 million in earned prize money. Djokovic is sitting at $99,673,404, which will exceed $100 million should he qualify for the quarter-finals today. If this happens, Djokovic will be the first men's tennis professional to reach this landmark. Read more
