Student protests continue across the country, raising questions of how they're policed and how campuses can protect students, staff and property. The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has for almost a year hired private security guards, who attacked students, staff and journalists on Wednesday. Clinton drops Cuban bomb on Trump

Not content with the verbal flaying delivered at this week's presidential debate, Hillary Clinton has accused the Orange Menace of dodging a US trade embargo on Cuba. Reports have emerged of Trump's hotel chain spending $68,000 in Cuba in the '90s, itself a blatant violation of trade embargoes in place at the time. Read More

Families of US government staff working in the DRC have been advised to leave the country. This warning came amid concern over the DRC's deteriorating security situation. Ongoing anti-Kabila protests look as though violence is on the horizon. Read More

World leaders to attend Peres funeral

Legendary peacemaker to some, and a 'terrorist' to many Palestinian leaders, ex-prime minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres will be laid to rest before a packed global audience. Leaders ranging from President Barack Obama to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will attend the service, a move for which the latter was condemned by Hamas. Read More

Rosetta in fiery 12-year finish

The Rosetta spacecraft will end its 12-year mission today. After stalking the short-named Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, the Rosetta spacecraft will collide on its surface, and join the Philae lander on a journey around the sun. Forever. Read More
