If you had to puff up a word cloud of the SABC board’s Wednesday presentation to Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Communications it would read something like this: “fraudster, disrespect, dysfunction, institutional genocide, Verwoerd, cowboy conferences, a dog show, remove Hlaudi Motsoeneng, dissolve the board”. UN peacekeepers failed to intervene in Sudan


A rights group has slammed the inaction of United Nations peacekeepers in Juba to, well, keep the bloody peace. In almost all instances of violence during an outbreak in July, UN blue helmets failed to intervene, according to the Centre for Civilians in Conflict on Wednesday. In what has to be one of the quickest turnarounds of any international agreement, the Paris climate pact was ratified yesterday. Including China and the United States, the sobering reality that time was running around appeared to finally provide some impetus for the deal's ratification.
