Fear and loathing: First look at Guptas’ attempt to bite a chunk of Iqbal Survé’s stake in Independent Media 



Once drawn to each other through a bond of fealty to the ANC, Independent Media’s Iqbal Survé and the Guptas’ Oakbay Investments are now are at each others’ throats (in court) in a nasty dispute in which Oakbay is claiming a 50% share of Survé’s Sekunjalo Independent Media’s investment in Independent Media, a chunk it says it was promised in 2012. Court documents reveal the making of clandestine boardroom recordings and allegations of dishonesty, general skullduggery and fear and loathing. It couldn’t have happened to nicer people. Four killed at Israeli nightspot


Two Palestinian gunmen have opened fire at a popular Israeli open-air market, killing four people. Both attackers were apprehended. While Hamas has already been quick to praise the murders, Israeli authorities will no doubt be planning one hell of a retaliation. Read more
















North Korea convenes rare parliamentary session


North Korea has announced it will convene a rare parliamentary session on 29 June. Although no further details were provided, it is widely believed this event is to confer a new title on to the Supreme Leader. 'Grand High Michelin Man' will likely not be on the names list. Read more
















Obama "hopeful" of Sanders exit


President and shining paragon of Democrat virtue, Barack Obama, has expressed his hope Bernie Sanders will suspend his campaign within a few weeks. This could be in line with the beginning of a rhetoric campaign to ultimately endorse Clinton. Regardless, Obama is set to meet Sanders for a long chat today.  Read more
















Nike stick with Sharapova


Nike has resumed its sponsorship of Maria Sharapova. The major brand said it genuinely believes Sharapova did not knowingly commit a doping offence. This is in line with the ITF ruling that said as much, before banning Sharapova for two years.  Read more
