Andrew Newby

ANDREW NEWBY Andrew Newby describes himself as a jack of many trades but master of few. He began his working career as a reporter on Durban newspapers before foolishly venturing into advertising as a copywriter. He gave all that up to become variously: a dive instructor, chef and restaurateur; charter dive boat skipper and cooking school lecturer. He’s also tried his hand at documentary filmmaking. These days he lives on a farm near Deneysville on the banks of the Vaal with his wife and many animals, making artisan cheese.
