Dr Janais Delport

​​Janaïs Delport is a PhD graduate from the University of Cape Town who specialises in melissopalynology, the study of pollen and spores in honey. Her thesis investigated the types and diversity of honeys produced within the Greater Cape Floristic Region, which is home to two biodiversity hotspots, the Fynbos and Succulent Karoo biomes. Her current aim is to broaden her skill set by studying the chemical properties of honey, which, complementary to the pollen composition, can be used for the swift detection of fraudulent or adulterated honey in our markets.
