Treive Nicholas

Dr Treive Nicholas has a PhD in biology from the University of Southampton, after which he worked globally in commerce. His first book, A Nun and The Pig: Tales From South Africa, describes his time working as a teacher in Mthatha in the 1980s. In Search Of Nongqawuse is his second book, released in April 2025 after seven years’ research and travel in the Eastern Cape and the UK. He attempts to show that the teenage prophetess Nongqawuse was not the principal cause of the tragic Cattle Killing 1856-1857. The foreword, in English and isiXhosa, is written by Hombakazi Mercy Nqandeka.
