Barry Christianson
Barry Christianson is a freelance documentary photographer and journalist from Cape Town, South Africa. He has worked on diverse topics ranging from Cissie Gool House, a housing occupation in an abandoned state-owned hospital, to seal deaths on the West Coast, what it takes to build a field hospital during the first wave of Covid-19, and the challenges faced by small-holder farmers in Limpopo. His current focus is on the issues facing small-scale fishers and coastal communities. His work has appeared in a variety of South African and international publications, and he has received reporting grants from the National Geographic Society and the Pulitzer Center.
